Research Interests

Using a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods, Sherilyn and her team study the implementation and impact of pharmacy practice to full scope, including: 

  • Practice-based research

  • Systematic reviews

  • Analyses of administrative and other real-world data

  • Surveys, interviews, and focus groups

  • Economic analyses

While having a focus on the clinical areas of vaccinations and travel medicine, she has also studied the uptake and outcomes of:

  • Pharmacist prescribing for chronic disease management

  • Pharmacist prescribing for minor ailments

  • Clinical decision support tools for prescribing for older adults with kidney disease

  • Clinical resource use by health professionals in evaluating the appropriateness of medication use in lactation

  • Regulation and discipline of health professionals

  • Geographic distribution of pharmacists relative to population distribution

  • Home medication reviews by pharmacists

Work in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) includes:

  • The impact of a mental health “Check-In” among pharmacy students

  • Personality profiles, professional goals, and role perceptions of entry-year pharmacy students

  • Assessment of injection technique

  • Pharmacy student negotiation with potential employers

  • Interprofessional education in palliative care

  • Assessment of clinical documentation
